About Jack Hessler
Jack Hessler began his career editing documentaries including World Debut (executive produced by Tony Hawk) and The Crux (Sundance Brand Storytelling), and in 2023, he was an editor at the Sundance Directors Lab. In 2025, he edited the narrative feature Kites (Special Jury Mention, Tribeca Film Festival), produced and edited Mouse (Best U.S. Narrative, Cleveland International Film Festival), edited Call to Serve (Hulu), and produced and edited Can I Put You On Hold (SXSW). His experience as an editor taught him how to shape stories, and he carries this into his own storytelling, including the short films Sacrament (Filmquest) and The Red Book (Utah Queer Film Festival). Most recently, he had a script as a finalist for Sun Valley Film Festival’s 1 Potato Grant and was selected for NBCU x The Alliance Power of Storytelling Grant. He currently lives in Salt Lake City, where he snowboards, rock climbs, and volunteers at queer non-profits.
